Most people who travel to Japan spend around 12 days, instead they say it’s still not enough. Maybe you have to travel for a month, if you want to be satisfied with traveling in Japan. But because of my limited leave allowance, when I went to Japan I only had 7 days there. Incidentally get cheap tickets too to Osaka. Moreover, if only to Osaka and its surroundings it is indeed enough only for 7 days.
After reading, looking at routes, and budgeting calculations, finally my friends and I decided to just walk around in Osaka and Kyoto. Actually there are also other cities nearby such as Nara and Kobe, but due to limited time and budget, we finally did not go there. From the beginning to make budgeting, the total was around 10 million all-in. The budgeting that I made turned out right. Read here for tips on saving trips in Japan. In this article I want to tell you guys about itinerary and budgeting while I was in Japan in July 2019.

Actually, the effective time of traveling in Japan is only 5 days. The first day we arrived at Kyoto already at night, and so it rained. So we can’t go out at night either. On the last day we could actually take a half day trip, because our plane was around 4 pm there. But because our airbnb check-out time is 10:00 am, we went straight to the airport. Because it is also impossible to walk while carrying a suitcase. Yes indeed there are many luggage storage lockers. However, because the most votes are directly to the airport, yes, I also followed it.
The itinerary above is actually an impromptu itinerary. So we had an itinerary before, but that all changed when we got there. Yes, I think this is actually more comfortable and flexible because it adjusts to the situation, condition, and mood. Because the most important thing is the journey itself, not the destination.
But for myself, my bucket list in Kyoto is Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, Fushimi Inari Taisha, and Menbaka Fire Ramen. In Osaka, my bucket list goes to Universal Studios Japan and Osaka Castle. The rest is up to them. Even though the itinerary has changed completely, the important thing is that my bucket list has been achieved as well. 😀
The above budgeting is my actual budgeting for 7 days in Japan. But actually there are still some unrecorded expenses too, but that amount is not much. It should still be around 10 million also for the total. Understandably, I usually when the streets collect the receipts and only record expenses at night. So if something is missing, that’s normal 😛
It can be seen that I am more wasteful in food. Yes, food in Japan is really expensive. Just one meal can be finished around IDR 100,000 – IDR 200,000. Lodging is also expensive in Japan. At that time, we looked for the cheapest, around Rp. 250,000 per person per night. We initially thought that Osaka and Kyoto might be cheaper than Tokyo. Eh but it turns out it’s still expensive too. While in Kyoto, we more often walk around the city so we can be more efficient in transportation.
As for the entrance tickets, we also only go to places that really want to be visited. For me, I definitely want to go to Universal Studios Japan in Osaka. Some of my friends really want to go to Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan. Finally we only went to 2 tourist attractions that were paid. We looked for the cheapest tickets too.
At that time Klook have a promotion, Buy 3 Get 1 Free Universal Studios Japan, we immediately bought it at that time. 😀 Then we are given another promo code of 3% to purchase Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan tickets by Klook, because we already bought the USJ ticket. Finally, we bought the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan ticket at Klook again. Actually there are also combos of USJ and Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan products, but after counting, the product units are cheaper and the promos are cheaper.
That is my itinerary and budgeting for 7 days in Japan. Traveling to Japan doesn’t have to be expensive right? 😉 Hopefully useful!
